The MP for Harrow West has blamed a lack of sleep caused by his newborn after he fell for The Harrow Times’ April Fool’s Day prank.
The newspaper ran a story on Saturday, April 1, which joked that Harrow was to be awarded “cleanest” borough in London.
The article stated that a ceremony was going to be held at the Town Hall, in Station Road, after charity Keepin’ It Clean were “impressed” by the low numbers of fly-tipping incidents being reported.

However, this was not true.
Gareth Thomas, who is currently on paternity leave from his role as MP, shared the story on Twitter.
He said: “We’re not perfect but cllr Graham Henson has led big improvement programme; Harrow to be awarded “cleanest” borough in London.”
When asked for a comment, Mr Thomas simply responded with “Agh!” and admitted he need to get more sleep.
Did you fall for the joke?
