There are still doubts over when a road closure blocking a major road connecting Wembley and Harrow after a flood will be lifted.

Harrow Road has been closed today for the fifth day in a row after a 12-inch water main ruptured, flooding the street on Saturday (May 13).

Affinity Water was asked how long the closure will continue, but a spokesperson said they are unable to confirm a date or time yet – but we expect to hear an update by tomorrow.

A smaller section of the road is still closed off today, according to the AA Traffic tracker.

Today (May 17) Harrow Road is closed between the junction with Elms Park Avenue and Sudbury Croft.

Earlier this week other sections were closed from the roundabout next to Sudbury Methodist Church and just past St Francis Lodge.

A spokesperson said: “The burst pipe has been repaired and we are supplying our customers from alternate pipework, whilst we wait for the samples to be confirmed. This is to adhere to our strict water quality standards.

“During this time, all customers in the area will have a water supply however it may be at a lower pressure until the repairs are completed.

“For the safety of our team and road users, there is a road closure on Harrow Road and are asking you to avoid the area if possible.”

Like the past few days, cars are being diverted and the 92 bus rerouted.

The London Fire Brigade says that the 20cm deep water affected shops across the street, which was closed from Sudbury Court Drive to the junction of Watford Road.

The brigade were first called to the road at 5.52am on the Saturday and the incident was taken over for firefighters by 9.17am.

Crews used sandbags and a polyboom, which acts as a wall, to divert and contain floodwater.

According to the brigade, there were no reports of any injuries.
