A Harrow Weald post office will close later this month – and reopen in a more modern guise with vastly extended opening hours.
The new Post Office “local” service will launch at Long Elmes Post Office at 1pm on Wednesday, August 31.
However the store be closed for eight days, starting from 5.30pm on Monday, August 22, to allow for the refurbishment to take place.

During this time services can be accessed from the nearest branches on Alexandra Avenue in Harrow and Uxbridge Road, Pinner.
When the store does reopen, trading hours will be extended to 8am – 6pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8am – 4pm on Wednesday and Saturday, and 8am – 7pm on Friday.
Customers will also be able to access a wide range of services including special delivery, local collect, and pre-order travel money.
Post Office area manager Michael Brennan said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail, and do their banking because we know how important these services are.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
