Roberto Pereyra can be Watford's version of Slovakia and Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik, according to team-mate Valon Behrami.

Behrami and Hamsik played together in Italy under Walter Mazzarri before the Swiss midfielder joined Watford, and now the 31-year-old believes summer signing Pereyra can match the highly-rated player.

The former Juventus man netted his second Watford goal in their win over Leicester yesterday, a stunning strike from the corner of the box, after making the opener by beating three players down the Hornets' left.

And Behrami paid tribute to the Argentine's "intelligence" before making a comparison you would imagine the 24-year-old would appreciate.

He said: "He’s very intelligent, like Marek Hamsik we had at Napoli. He knows where to put the ball and find the space, and he works hard for the team which is the most important here in England.

"You can have the quality but if you don’t work hard it is tough. We’re very happy to have him in the team.

"He has the intelligence to be in the right spot, and when I have the ball I find him every time like Hamsik.

"Hamsik was maybe more concrete in the last 20 metres, and always wanted to score, but Pereyra can work on that and be more aggressive in that area."
