Although our Harrow East MP Bob Blackman has paid back the money ‘inaccurately’ claimed for travelling expenses, he still maintains his innocence as reported in your story ‘MP pledges to donate mileage cash to hospice’ (Harrow Times, March 12).
But the amount was six times the normal rate and there has been no expression of regret or apology.
Does this constitute contempt of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, or just the taxpayer?
The charity he intends to support must be hoping the money is not ‘inaccurately’ sourced.
