Hindus around Harrow celebrated Maha Shivaratri on February 17, with great pomp at Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Stanmore.
While most festivals are celebrated during the day, this particular one is celebrated at night — the 13th lunar night into the 14th day (one day before the new moon) during the Hindu month of Phagun.
Maha Shivaratri is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the temple welcomed many devotees, old and young, throughout the day.
Poojan commenced from 8am to 1pm in the morning and from 4pm to 8pm.
The Maha Rudra Abhishek was conducted by a Bhrahmin and hundreds of devotees offered milk, bilva patra and flowers to Mahadev.
On Thursday, March 5, you are invited to join us as we celebrate the festival of Holi, where we will be hosting a special Holika Dahan from 7pm to 9pm.
Holi colours will be available at the mandir for those who wish to partake in colour throwing. Please dress accordingly.
