I have run a dry-cleaning business for the past 14 years. In August, my landlord submitted an application to convert the shop into part-living accommodation.
If this had been approved, it would have meant that a business, which has been established for 60 years supporting the local community would have closed and I would have lost my livelihood.
As a resident of the Harrow borough, I contacted my MP Bob Blackman for assistance.
He was very helpful and wrote to the planning office supporting my objection. He also wrote to the Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, whose department brought in the legislation that allows retail premises to be converted into housing without full planning permission.
Fortunately for me and my family, the planning office rejected the application for my business.
I hope this will be of assistance to other readers who may be in difficulty and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Blackman for his support and time.
