On Saturday, February 28 I attended Shaftesbury High School to be part of their morning assembly.

I was privileged to have been able to address the teachers, parents and pupils on crime prevention, ensuring they remain safe in and around their school.

I would like to thank everyone at Shaftesbury High School for their invitation and for making me feel welcome.

On Thursday, March 5 I attended the annual HOLI event at Harrow Civic Centre, hosted by the Intentional Siddhashram Shakti Centre.

I really enjoyed being apart of the celebrations in this special religious and cultural event. Events such as this celebrate our wonderful and diverse borough here in Harrow and together we can ensure we remain the safest borough in London!

I was pleased to see that in the east cluster of our borough, we are shown as having the friendliest and most approachable police officers in the whole of London.

This is calculated on public surveys, completed by residents of London and importantly our borough.

By ensuring my officers are approachable and friendly, we can achieve further reductions in crime, higher levels of satisfaction and overall confidence.

I am proud to be the police commander in such a successful borough with excellent crime reductions and the lowest levels of crime, per 1000 population, in the whole of London. Once again I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

Why should I report crime?

By sharing information you have about a crime that has been or may be committed, you can help the police solve crimes and prevent future crimes from taking place.

The MPS understands that it may be difficult to report an incident, but we encourage you to do so and we will listen, give guidance and support whilst treating you with dignity and respect.

If you have been involved in a serious or sensitive crime, we have specially trained staff who will understand your needs and look after any of your concerns (you can read more about this below).

If you don't report crime there will be:

  • No investigation
  • Very little chance that the offender will be caught or brought to justice
  • More people who may suffer what you’ve been through
  • No clear picture of crime across London, making it harder for us to deal with future problems

For every crime reported the MPS will:

  • Carry out an investigation, looking at the details of the crime including any potential evidence
  • Examine to see if it is linked to other crimes. If so, then the local police may direct extra resources to the area to prevent other people from becoming victims of crime
  • Log any property involved, which will be returned to you if recovered
  • Give you the opportunity to talk through your concerns about what happened and to receive reassurance
  • Refer you to Victim Support, a charity who can help you cope with both the emotional and practical impact of crime

Good work by my officers

On February 18, a man was arrested for burglary in South Harrow, after being found inside the address by officers responding to the call.

The man tried to make off after punching out at police officers.

After a short chase, with help from our police helicopter, he was arrested. The man was charged with burglary and remanded to attend court.
