Hundreds of people from across the borough celebrated 40 years of an organisation's service to the community.

The Shree Kadwa Patidar Samaj celebrated four decades of serving the Gujarati community of Harrow on Saturday July 26.

Guests of honour at the event included Mayor of Harrow, Ajay Maru, Barry Gardiner MP and the First Secretary of the Indian High Commission.

Celebrations included traditional dance performances and the presentation of a cheque of £11,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The money was raised through the centre’s annual sponsored walk, which this year involved 77 members of the community walking across Belgium.

The Shree Kadwa Patidar Samaj is a community of those originating from India who have migrated from India, Africa and other part of the world and has settled in the UK.

It's home in Kenmore Avenue, became the hub for the community activities 21 years ago.
