A campaign against the removal of personal items at graves in a cemetery has been given the support of councillors this evening.
Members of Harrow Borough Council were presented with a petition of more than 2,200 signatures stated by mourners with loved ones buried in the Harrow plots at Carpenders Park Cemetery.
The petition is against the site becoming a lawn cemetery, which has resulted in crosses and personal items being removed from graves by staff.
The site is run by Brent Borough Council and in 2007 Harrow Borough Council opened a section of the graveyard for Harrow residents.
At the meeting this evening Councillor Varsha Parmar said the council is looking to resolve the situation and will be in discussions with Brent council about the cemetery.
