A Hindu priest from Wealdstone is facing charges of assault and conspiring to commit sexual offences.

Gurudev Rajesh Parmar, a well-known founder of the Siddhashram Shakti Centre, in Palmerston Road, will appear at Harrow Crown Court for a brief preliminary hearing today.

He is facing one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, another of conspiring to commit sexual offences and one of perverting the cause of justice.

The 42-year-old, of Headstone Drive, is a well-known community leader and has numerous links with politicians and charitable organisations in the area.
