Harrow Police’s former borough commander attended an auction in aid of an anti-gang charity.
Chief Superintendent Dal Babu, who retired on Friday, was a guest at the west London event which was held to raise money for Mothers Against Gangs.
The event, which was organised by the Association of Muslim Police, was also attended by Premier League footballer Abou Diaby and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe.
The aim of the evening was to raise awareness about the problems of gang culture and to raise £5,000 for Mothers Against Gangs, an organisation set up to steer children away from crime.
Vice-chair of the Association of Muslim Police, Sayed Baharun, called the evening "a great success".
He said: "We were able to raise awareness about important issues that affect our neighbourhoods and communities.
“As police officers it's important that we work with the community at all levels and this event has showcased what can be achieved.”
