HARROW College students turned out in droves to collect their A-level results this morning despite having the option of collecting them online.

Barsha Gurung, 20, of Sylvester Road, Wembley, stayed up all night checking the UCAS website but by the time the results were published this morning her computer had crashed.

She had to go to the Harrow Weald campus to pick them up in person and did better than she expected, getting straight As in sociology, business and law.

She said: “All my friends were ringing me last night saying it's going to be updated after midnight so I was on the computer all night – I didn't even sleep.

"I was on the UCAS website this morning and my computer crashed because I was on it all night."

“I was nervous, I was just thinking about the disappointment side of it and now that I have the results I just feel relieved.”

She wants to go to SOAS, in Russel Square, to study law.

Alongside the A-level results, year 12 students have been finding out their A/S grades in preparation for their final year.

Zahra Al-Hamadi, 18, of Windsor Crescent, Wembley, got As in chemistry and biology along with a B in psychology and a C in maths.

She said: “I didn't open my envelope because I was too scared, my friend did it for me, but I feel really happy, I cried.

“I felt nervous as I was coming to college – the closer I got the more nervous I got. When I found I was just hugging my friend, crying and saying 'I don't believe it'.”
