For their next production, Ruislip Dramatic Society will be bringing one of the most celebrated Ealing comedies to the Compass Theatre.

The group will be performing The Ladykillers, the award-winning stage version of the classic Ealing Studios film adapted by Graham Linehan, creator of The IT Crowd and Father Ted.

It tells the tale of a sweet innocent old lady, alone in her home, pitted against a gang of criminal misfits.

Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang wish to rent a room for their rehearsals in Mrs Wilberforce’s slowly subsiding house in King’s Cross, but they are not all they seem and are actually master-minding a robbery.

The villains even plan to involve Mrs Wilberforce in their heist, but soon discover she is a somewhat challenging partner in crime.

With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs Wilberforce is alone with five desperate men, but who will ultimately be forced to face the music?

The Ladykillers was a West End hit which broke box office records and received five Olivier Award nominations as well as the Whatsonstage.com award for Best New Comedy in 2013. Following its original run at the Gielgud Theatre, it returned to the West End for a second run this time at the Vaudeville Theatre after a UK tour.
