Children are encouraged to borrow and read six books from the borough’s libraries as a summer challenge.
The Summer Reading Challenge, organised by Harrow Council, gives children a chance to visit libraries and talk to staff about the books they are reading, with a certificate and medal at the end to mark their achievement.
The free competition starts on Saturday and runs at all of the borough’s libraries until September 15.
Staff are also putting on a variety of storytelling and craft activities throughout the summer break, many with an Olympic theme, with the chance to make rings, torches and medals.
