Stanmore bank customers have reacted with anger at the behaviour of a branch manager who used a stolen disabled badge to park her BMW outside her workplace.

Kulvinder Dhindsa, manager of the Lloyds TSB in The Broadway, was fined £1,000 at Willesden Magistrates’ Court last week for using the blue badge to park her car outside the branch, rather than paying for parking just yards away.

The 41-year-old, who pleaded guilty to fraud, bought the badge for £150 from a garage in Slough.

And people the Harrow Times spoke to outside the branch yesterday afternoon were disgusted with Dhindsa’s actions and called for her to face disciplinary action.

David Mackie, 63, said: “I do have a blue badge because I had a motorcycle accident when I was younger which damaged my legs. You quickly find out that they are valuable things – my friend had his car broken into for one.

“The fact that someone in her position could do that – well with the state the banks are in I’m not really that surprised. She must be getting a fair wage and could afford to park.

“I don’t think there’s any excuse for it.”

Lynette Lubyn agreed, calling the fraudulent use of a disabled badge “a despicable thing to do”.

She added: “It’s really bad because there are people with disabilities who need whose badges probably can’t find a place to park or even get them.”

Suhani Shah, who was walking home from work along The Broadway, said the case represented a wider downturn in morals in the area.

She said: “Stanmore has been going downhill really, I heard of a robbery just down the street last week. So it’s not unexpected.

“It’s a pretty cheap and low thing to do, it’s ridiculous. She should definitely face some disciplinary action from the bank. She doesn’t deserve any special treatment.”

Lloyds TSB refused to comment or confirm what disciplinary action had been taken against Dhindsa when asked by the Harrow Times.
