A furry feline is set to become employee of the year at a charity shop in Pinner.

Henry the cat sets out from his home in Love Lane, Pinner, every morning for the daily grind at the RSCPA charity on the same street. He waits for his colleagues by the door of the shop, which opens at 9.30am, and like any dutiful shop assistant, assumes his place on the counter.

Employees of the charity shop, which helps support animals, say the cat, who has been "working" at the store for a year, has become a local celebrity.

Pip Rowe, who has been the manager at the RSPCA for five years, said: “He’s such a clever little cat. He knows exactly when we open and is always there waiting for me.

“He has his own grey cushion on the counter which he sits on, and he has breakfast with us in the morning.

“When it’s time for lunch he tends to go for a walk or just sit on the bench outside Marks & Spencers, nibbling on people's sandwiches.

“He’s so friendly and loveable, and lets anyone stroke him. He’s the town’s little celebrity.”

The brown and white tabby, who lives with his owner, John, his wife and their daughters, also has a twin brother called Hugh.
