TWO teenagers who witnesses say were attacked with an axe in a brawl at a court have been bailed by police.

A 14-year-old boy was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington, with head injuries after violence at Highgate Magistrates Court at 11.45am yesterday.

He was discharged and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and affray but has since been bailed by police to return in October.

Detectives say a female PC was punched during the brawl.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to Whittington Hospital with an injured torso and was arrested for affray and bailed after he was discharged.

Witnesses say the two teenagers were chased inside the court room after a row outside with another group, all aged around 15, described as black, wearing hooded tops and beanie hats.

There it is claimed they were attacked with a short-handled, blunt axe.

Police confirmed they recovered a knife and an axe at the scene.
