FIVE football fans, including four vice-presidents of Harrow Borough FC, will embark on a marathon charity fundraiser later this month in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and the club.

The Borough supporters are Keith Loddy, Nigel Blake, Nick Ringham and Brian Bigwood, who will be joined by Anthony Burles, who follows Hayes.

The five will leave John O'Groats on September 29, the day of the charity's World's Biggest Coffee morning.

They will visit the grounds of 27 Scottish sides and then those of 61 non-league teams in England.

Their last stop before Lands End will be at Penlee Park, home of Penzance AFC.

Brian said "Three years ago we raised over £7,500 for our favourite causes visiting another 88 clubs spread all over England and Wales.

"We felt it was about time we did something again for Macmillan Cancer Support, especially as they are funding special projects in our area at both Mount Vernon and Northwick Park Hospitals.

"The challenge is going to be tough, as we will be covering over 1,250 miles in less than 88 hours.

"We won't stop, except for petrol, and at each ground to take a photograph as evidence.

"Finding grounds will be our greatest difficulty because we decided not to visit anywhere we stopped at three years ago.

"So we have had to pick teams lower down the non-league pyramid, which are consequentially smaller and more difficult to locate."

You will be able to follow their progress as it happens on Harrow Borough's website, www.harrowboro.co.uk For more information, or to offer to help or sponsor the team, call Brian on 0208 574 1865 or e-mail brian.bigwood@ virgin.net.
