A WOMAN from Wembley will attempt to hike 25 miles to raise money for a humanitarian charity.

Evelyn Burroughs, 46, will be testing her physical stamina when she attempts the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this Saturday.

The hike covers the three highest peaks in Yorkshire including Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, raising money for Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organisation with programmes in more than 40 countries.

Action Against Hunger is the charity of the year of Mrs Burroughs's employers Key Travel, a travel agency for the not-for-profit sector, will match funds raised by Mrs Burroughs for her hiking challenge. She hopes to raise £400 through the challenge.

Mrs Burroughs will set off on her hike at dawn, which she will aim to complete, with minimal rest, before sunset on the same day.

She said: “I voted for Action Against Hunger to be our charity of the year – so this is my opportunity to put my money where my mouth is.

“I have always enjoyed walking although I do not underestimate the challenge of covering this beautiful but challenging terrain in such a short time.

“Colleagues have been very supportive and my fundraising efforts are coming along quite nicely.

"I’m pleased to have this opportunity to raise money for a deserving cause, although I expect that I will be exhausted by the end of it.”
