Calling all HARROVIANS!

It is absolutely essential that as many of you as possible take part in TWO important joint consultations which the METROPOLITAN POLICE SERVICE(MPS) and METROPOLITAN POLICE AUTHORITY(MPA)have launched, fairly recently.

As Chair of the HARROW POLICE & COMMUNITY CONSULTATIVE GROUP(HPCCG) I urge you to grab this opportunity with both hands and take part in both.Make sure your voice is heard!

Please take a few minutes of your valuable time to make your views on Policing known to those at the top, responsible for making strategic decisions.Your timely participation will impact on the sort of Police Service you will receive in the future, bearing in mind the dreadful economic circumstances we find ourselves in.

The MPS and MPA are keen to deliver, within reason, what the majority of Londoners want to keep them safe both at home and on the streets---an efficient,cost-effective service which is second to none, tailored to meet local needs.

The FIRST consultation is an intelligence-gathering exercise which will help determine the STYLE of future Policing in London. The Review lists simple questions about the different channels the public may wish to use to access their services, including the overall FUTURE of FRONT COUNTERS.This is not about individual front counters.

The Consultation is anonymous and can be conducted in a number of ways.

1)By accessing an ONLINE SURVEY at www.met.police.uk or by going direct to http://www.keysurvey.co.uk/survey/360083/41a8.This will be quickest.

2)By writing to Partnership Inspector STUART WARD,Kirkland House,11 Peterborough Road,Harrow,HA1 2XT 3)By calling Sgt JOHN CRUMP on 020 8733 3415, with further questions.

REMEMBER,time is short.The DEADLINE is FRIDAY,27 MAY 2011.

The SECOND Consultation concerns the use of a special Police power called STOP and ACCOUNT.This is different from STOP & SEARCH.

The MPS and MPA are considering withdrawing STOP AND ACCOUNT for a number of reasons, including the cost implcations along with the officer time involved in recording the STOP.The government is changing the rules.

There are concerns about disproportionality,in particular the large number of Asians and Blacks being stopped, alienating some groups of individuals who feel unfairly targetted. However,we Londoners must consider the safety and security implications, with International Terrorism on the rise.London is on "SEVERE" status, meaning an attack may be imminent.

This consultation is especially important for YOUNG MALES to participate in,although it is open to everyone. Many consultations have already taken place.

To make your views count 1)Complete an ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE and submit immediately.See http://surveys.mpa.gov.uk/v.asp?i=31461pebbf 2)Complete a PAPER QUESTIONNAIRE by contacting BENNETT OBONG on bennett.obong@mpa.gov.uk c)Participate in a TELEPHONE QUESTIONNAIRE by calling Bennett Obong on 020 7202 0147 Remember, the DEADLINE for this consultation is 8 JUNE 2011.

Please alert your friends and collegues to also participate and make the views of all Harrovians heard clearly by the decison makers.

Thank you for your valuable support in making our borough one of the safest and most harmonious in London.Hope to see you all at our HPCCG main meeting in the Council Chamber,at the Harrow Civic Centre,at 730pm,on Monday 11 JULY.
