THE SISTER of a pensioner involved in a hit and run in West Harrow is appealing for the driver to give himself up to police.

Bruno Conti, 76, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition after being hit by a scooter on Friday.

Mr Conti was hit by the driver of the scooter in Drury Road, at the junction of Butler Road at around 2.40pm.

After stopping briefly the scooter driver left in the direction of Vaughan Road.

Mr Conti suffered serious injuries and was taken to a West London Hospital.

The scooter is described as black and looking similar to a pizza delivery bike with a black box fitted at the back.

Police have confirmed there would have been damage to the front plastic fairings in the incident.

The rider is described as a man dressed in black wearing a high visibility jacket.

Mr Conti's sister, Anita Ramelli, said: "It has come as a terrible shock to our family that Bruno has been injured in such a way.

“We are praying that he will be able to make a full recovery. What has made this worse is that the bike rider left my brother lying in the road and just rode off.

“We want him to give himself up and contact the police"

Detective Sergeant Chris Osborne of Alperton Traffic Garage said: "This collision occurred in a quiet residential neighbourhood, which would indicate this rider either lives or was delivering to an address nearby.

“If anyone saw what happened, knows who the rider was, or received a delivery from a moped or scooter that afternoon in the West Harrow area I would urge them to get in touch.

"I am also appealing for the rider concerned to come forward. I am confident that we will trace the vehicle and the driver involved and so would urge him to hand himself into police."

No arrests have been made following the accident.
