CHILDREN are being invited to Harrow Garden Centre this weekend to take part in a free seed planting event.

The garden centre, in Headstone Lane, is offering youngsters the opportunity to take part in the free seed planting workshop today and tomorrow.

Manager Mike Townend said: “Gardening is great fun for all the family and we’re keen to encourage children to get involved.

“At the workshops they can create a ‘cress head’ and pot up a pumpkin, both of which they can take home. Children attending a workshop must be accompanied by an adult.

“Gardening and, in particular, growing your own vegetables and salads is a great hobby. It encourages physical activity and helps teach youngsters about where their food comes from.”

The workshops will take place from 10.30am until 11.30am and again from 2.30pm until 3.30pm on both days.
