A MAJOR shake up of services for some of the most vulnerable children in the borough could be approved on Thursday.
The changes are designed to focus resources where they are needed most, break the dependency of some families on one social worker and give more responsibility to voluntary groups.
Councillor Mitzy Green, responsible for children's services, said: “Looking after the children and young people who really need our help is our priority and with the Integrated Children's Services plan we will be able to keep our most vulnerable children safe and help to improve their life chances.”
The reforms, if approved, will mean some people used to seeing one member of staff may get support from a bigger team, and all drop in sessions will be held at Harrow Youth Stop, in College Road, Harrow town centre.
Services targetted at specific groups, which includes the department's most serious work, will all be provided under one roof and residents wanting support will only need to fill in one form, rather than several.
The council hopes bringing workers usually scattered around different sites together will allow problems to be dealt with more quickly and more effectively.
