A SOUTH London businessman has turned to the Times Series in his bid to reunite a north London couple with a collection of precious photos.

Peter Simpson, 43, from Teddington, found a discarded camera memory card in a south London gutter a year ago.

He has only just managed to access some 30 photos of a smiling couple and their newborn baby on his own camera which he received as a Christmas gift.

Mr Simpson has been trying to reunite the lost SD card with its owners because he believes that the photographs are the most important memories they may have of their child.

“These photos are probably very important because there are pictures of the baby on a weighing scale, and things like that.

“Who knows if the couple have the originals. Either way, we have decided to track the couple down.”

Mr Simpson and his colleague Anthony Pears, who both work at Trafigura, a London-based multinational oil-trading company, have undertaken the immense task of finding out more about the couple from clues in the photographs.

“We narrowed the area down to north London by using the estate agent in the background of one of the pictures.

“The sign says DP Estate Agents, who only operate in north London,” he explained.

“We have also been trying to use Google Street View to recognise the streets in the pictures, but we haven't been successful yet.

“The next logical step was to go to local papers.”

Mr Simpson believes the couple may have had their camera stolen and the SD card discarded.

“We think the camera was stolen and thieves threw the card away, but the couple may have just lost their memory card,” he said.

According to the dates recorded on the pictures the child would be nearly four years old now because the baby was born on March 1, 2007.
