ONE of the Chilean miners trapped underground for more than two months last autumn is coming to Barnet to tell his amazing story of survival.

Jose Henriquez, 54, was the 24th miner to be rescued when 33 men were trapped in the collapsed San Jose copper and gold mine in August.

Nicknamed "The Pastor", he was the spiritual leader of the group and was responsible for keeping up morale during their 69-day ordeal.

He is starting his UK tour at Jesus House in Brent Cross on Sunday, January 23, accompanied by his wife and the chaplain to the President of Chile.

A Jesus House spokesperson said: “We consider it a huge privilege to be hosting Mr Henriquez and look forward to hearing his inspiring version of events during his 69 days underground.”

Mr Henriquez will then visit Oxford, Durham and Ireland to give the public a chance to hear his account of the story which gripped millions.

He will attend the 8.30am and 10.30am service at Jesus House, Brent Terrace, on Sunday.
