THE Metropolitan line was part-suspended due to strike action this morning despite TfL assurances it would remain open.

Transport for London reissued a press release at 6.30am stating London Underground “intends to run a service on all branches of the Metropolitan line through to Aldgate” but just 40 minutes later confirmed the line had been affected.

A special service is now running on the whole of the line but rush hour commuters faced part suspension on the Uxbridge branch and between Baker Street and Aldgate.

The Jubilee line is suspended between Wembley Park and Stanmore, while the Piccadilly line is down between Kings Cross and Uxbridge.

Trains are running from Acton Town to Heathrow Terminal 5 and from Kings Cross to Cockfosters.

The Bakerloo line is suspended between Queens Park and Harrow and Wealdstone.

The RMT and TSSA unions are striking over planned cuts to ticket office opening hours that could hit Mike Brown, managing director of London Underground and London Rail, said: “Services are operating on virtually all lines this morning despite the pointless strike.

“We are doing everything we can to get as many tube services as possible operating, and to keep Londoners on the move with extra buses, river services, and other alternatives.

“Londoners will face some disruption, but we intend to continue to run services on nearly all tube lines, meaning that people will be able to get around.”
