BRENT residents have been asked to register to vote to save the council money.
The authority is obliged to send reminder letters and visit the homes of people who have not signed up, and so far only 36 per cent of the borough have replied to the first wave of forms sent out in August.
Councillor Lesley Jones, responsible for local democracy and consultation, said: “With the current pressures on the council to make savings, this is money that could be much better spent on delivering services to our residents.”
Sean O'Sullivan, electoral services manager, said: “I urge anyone who has not yet returned their form to do so as soon as possible, to help save the council money.
“Don't assume that because you were registered last year that your name will be automatically included in this year's register.”
