THE Mayor of Harrow raised a flag outside the civic centre to mark the dedication of the British armed forces across the world.
Councillor Asad Omar, Mayor of Harrow, led a short ceremony on Monday for Armed Forces Day, which was launched last year by the government to raise awareness of the work of servicemen serving this country.
Cllr Omar was joined by council chief executive Michael Lockwood Councillor Bill Stephenson, leader of the council, and deputy lieutenant John Purnell, as a bugler played Last Post and Reveille.
Cllr Omar said afterwards: “The men and women in our armed forces demonstrate tremendous courage every day in efforts to bring peace and democracy to some of the most hostile and challenging places in the world.
“We want current service personnel, as well as veterans, cadets and their families, to know that they have our support here in Harrow.”
