THEIR name might look like a bit of a mouthful, but Harrow band Czeduce are set to cook up some delicious tunes when they play a series of gigs across London in the next month.

The energetic four-piece, fronted by singer Maria Rinaldi and guitarist Faren Gambrill, have existed for over a year but have just reformed with a new line-up, including bassist Rob Maclean and drummer Rowan Jethwa.

23-year-old Faren, from Harrow Weald, said: "When we started in 2003, I was into bands like Metallica and our sound was definitely metally' because of that. But we have had so many changes in members, it really isn't the same band any more. I would say that now we are more like Blondie, or even Bon Jovi."

Czeduce played a prolific number of gigs early last year, but had eased off before a recent change of personnel gave them a new lease of life. The latest addition to the band, drummer Rowan, joined as recently as mid-January and had just a week to learn the band's set before they performed at a club in Piccadilly.

Faren said: "I've known Rowan for years, since college, but I had no idea how good he'd become, he really picked up the songs quickly in rehearsal. But we couldn't do everything, which was why we played one cover on the night The Kinks' You Really Got Me, which is unusual for us."

Born in India, Faren spent several years of his childhood in Dubai before his family settled in England at the age of 13. But despite appearances, the band's unusual name does not have an exotic root.

"Everybody asks whether it is Czech or Slovak or something, but actually it just came from us sitting around thinking of names. We liked the word seduce but just wanted something a bit different."

Czeduce are currently promoting their demo CD featuring the tracks "Fine Print" and "I'm Happy". The next opportunities to catch them live are their gigs on Saturday February 5 (9pm) at West One Four, West Kensington, and Friday March 4 (7.30pm) at Metros, Oxford Street.
