ROOKS Heath High School in South Harrow is being considered as a base for a community policing team.
Under the "reassurance policing" initiative, which was launched in Wealdstone last week, each ward in the borough is to get its own six-strong team of police and community support officers.
Roxbourne ward is due to be included in the scheme in August, but neither Harrow nor Wealdstone police stations are suitable locations, which is why the school in Eastcote Lane is being considered.
Chief Inspector Wayne Mawson said: "There are a number of logistical issues to think about, but the prospect is an appealing one because being at the school would place us at the heart of the community."
Negotiations with the headteacher are said to be in progress.
Last week we referred to "community police support officers". The correct term is, of course, "police community support officers (PCSOs)". It's a fair cop: we were caught bang to rights!
