FOR the second time over the Easter weekend, Wealdstone's opponents were reduced to nine men on Monday as Stones' good run continued with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Wingate and Finchley.

The home side should have had a penalty as early as the fourth minute when Steve Weldon handled in the area, but the referee ignored protests.

Two minutes later, Wingate took the lead when a John Butterfield free-kick was headed home by Paul Hakim.

Stones equalised in the 42nd minute, with Richard Jolly finding Danny Tilbury who fired in a fine shot past Andy Walker.

Five minutes into the new half, a Jason Shaw through ball was latched onto by Richard Jolly whose fine run ended with him slotting past the visiting keeper from an acute angle.

Wingate should have been level in the 67th minute when a bad back-pass from Gary McKeown failed to find Andy Carter and Danny Boateng nipped in but his effort was blasted over the bar.

With a minute to go, a Wingate free-kick was blatantly handled by Marvin Morgan.

He then turned and passed to Richard Jolly who found Dave Ryan, he rounded the keeper and unselfishly passed to the unmarked Tommy Williams who had an easy task firing home into an empty net.

Wingate players were furious with the referee for allowing the goal as there should have been a free-kick to Wingate when Morgan handled.

Captain Adam Shafer and Danny Boateng were shown the red card for abusive language and Michael Haswell, Dean Williams and Wingate's coach were all cautioned.

Everyone in the crowd saw the handball and that the goal should not have stood, but the referee and his assistant failed to see it.
