YES, you can believe your eyes. That was indeed Dagenham and Redbridge defender Tarkan Mustafa taking on Ronaldinho on the television the other night.

But fear not Daggers fans, your right back is not about to relocate to the Nou Camp just yet, even though he has recently been rubbing shoulders with some of the world's best footballers.

For this was just part of Mustafa's day job, playing a body double in the new Nike advert where he was able to meet up with the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Figo, Roberto Carlos, Christian Ronaldo, Denilson, Totti, Henry and van Nistelrooy. The usual acquaintances of any non-league footballer.

On the books at a sports modelling agency, Mustafa got the gig when a phonecall came as Nike were looking for a body double for Ricardo Quaresma.

He explained: "It was filmed at the Nou Camp back in December, this is the biggest job I've had by far and it was the first time that I've played someone's body double.

"The agency have got a portfolio with a few pictures of me in it, including the one of me with my abs out at the play off final, that's got me some work in the past! If the client likes the look of you then they ask to see you. I normally have to do a few kick ups and they like to see you running with the ball and see you on camera to see how it will look."

Mustafa ended up playing the role of Pauleta when the director called for someone of a bigger build and that's when he found himself up against Ronaldinho.

"I was told to try and defend against him, but without making a tackle. I don't think it would have gone down to well if I'd have injured him while all the Barcelona chiefs were standing there watching. I was just as subtle as possible whilst making it look realistic."

But could the man known to his teammates as 'the body' give the worlds best a run for their money?

"I wish I could, it was quite nerve racking, they had around 500 extras who were cheering by the side of the pitch while the filming was going on. Ronaldinho was running at me at pace, but they slow it down in the advert, there was no getting near him."

With the opportunity to mingle with Nike's chosen stars, it gave Mustafa the chance to pick up a few tips while he was away on his busmans holiday: "I met quite a few of the players who they had there. I tried to do a few tricks but I'm not the best, the guys out there were total perfectionists. I did try to pull off a few moves back in training but it wasn't quite in the same league.

"If I'm driving forward on an attack then maybe, but it's not for me when I'm defending."

Now that the hard work is done, it's a case of sitting back and admiring his hard work, if only he could manage to catch the advert: "I've seen it a couple of times, but I've never had the video recording when it's on, my Mum sat there with the tape ready for three hours once to no avail."
