THE owner of a missing Wealdstone parrot has found a “fairytale ending” to her agonising wait.

Tia, a two-year-old blue-fronted amazon parrot, was found by a family in Stanmore at 11pm on Friday, and the discovery has brought two sets of bird lovers together.

Owner Aliya Choudhury, 24, of Walton Drive, said: “As a token of my appreciation I had taken the reward money with me and offered it to the family.

“However they refused to accept it as they said they were more ecstatic to find Tia's owners, and to see us all happy was a reward in itself. I can't thank this family enough.

“As the Stanmore family also have a parrot, we have both decided to keep in touch. This has turned out to be a fairytale ending where I have my Tia back and have made some lifelong friends.”

She added: “I was so pleased that they were certain that it was my parrot that I went over straight away and true enough it was Tia.”

Tia was last seen perching on top of her cage at around 7pm on Monday, August 10, before flying out of the window.

Ms Choudhury said she searched high and low for days looking for the parrot and even put up posters in Wealdstone and handed out fliers.

She said: “Tia has lost a lot of weight and is currently being spoilt, we did miss her dearly.

“I was starting to lose hope that maybe I may never see her again, with a thought always in my mind that someone may have taken her in and did not want to part with her.

“But my faith in humanity is restored, that there is some good in this world.”
