MORE than 180 people were stopped by police under anti-terror legislation in the borough in September according to figures released by the Met yesterday.

In total cops stopped 185 people were stopped, with 129 asked to account for their actions but only 56 actually searched under the legislation which gives police powers designed to catch those carrying weapons, illegal drugs, stolen goods or equipment that could be used by terrorists.

Of those stopped, 47 per cent were between the ages of 21 and 40, and 48 per cent were described as white by officers, more than any other ethnic group.

Just over 80 per cent were male.
