Pregnant women are being encouraged to make use of a walk-in Pfizer vaccination clinic at Northwick Park Hospital.

The clinic will be open every Tuesday from 9.30am to 6pm at the hospital, after data shows an overwhelming majority of pregnant woman hospitalised with Covid-19 have not had a jab.

The lower vaccination rate among pregnant women comes from hesitancy fuelled by early misconceptions of the vaccine causing fertility issues – despite there being no medical evidence for this false information.

Medical experts are now urging pregnant women to get a vaccine at any stage of their pregnancy and state that the vaccine is safe.

Figures also reveal that no pregnant women with both doses of the vaccine have been admitted to hospital due to Covid-19.

The Northwick Park clinic will run every Tuesday throughout September, and visitors should go to the Blossom Team clinic room on level six of the maternity department.

It is available to women at any stage of their pregnancy and women can turn up without a appointment.

Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, chief midwifery officer for England, said: “Vaccines save lives, and this is another stark reminder that the Covid-19 jab can keep you, your baby and your loved ones, safe and out of hospital.”
