The Green Party Candidate for Harrow East is standing in the upcoming General Election to give people a “real alternative”.

Emma Wallace, who has lived in Harrow for seven years, is putting herself forward for a second consecutive election after growing concerned at developments of high rise buildings and levels of fly tipping on streets.

She said: “As a Green MP, I would work to build a sustainable and happy place for residents to live, ensuring that affordable and warm homes are built as a priority, that local infrastructure is invested in and transport links are accessible to the local population.

“In Harrow we have had some of the highest air pollution levels recorded in London, and seen an ever increasing pressure to build on Green Spaces. I would work to improve local air quality, focus on investing in renewable sources and prioritise the environment so that Harrow is a health borough to live in.

“In addition I would look to drive the improvement of the local health and mental care, especially, looking to get a joined up strategy in place that will stop the shunting of individuals between different support organisations.”

Ms Wallace wanted to get into politics after being involved in the Green Party for a number of years, campaigning on issues including the closure of a number of public libraries in the area.

She said: “I have been dismayed by the government’s sustained attack on public services over the last seven years, resulting in the facilities that we the tax payers have paid for, and which often support the most vulnerable, being lost to unnecessary and unfair “austerity” cuts.

“I became involved in the Green Party because they have a bold and positive vision for the country with policies that stand up and invest in our public services, education and the NHS and I am very proud to represent and provide the electorate an opportunity to vote for this in Harrow East.”
