Holocaust Memorial Day marks the date the largest Nazi concentration camp – Auschwitz-Birkenau – was liberated, January 27, 1945.
This year’s theme is How Can Life Go On? It will be marked by talks, poetry and musical recitals across the UK. Here are events in north London if you wish to commemorate the day.

The day will include readings from Dame Janet Suzman, recitals by Robert Max and Zoe Solomon, a talk from Mike Freer MP together with Tulip Siddiq and speeches will be given by Professor Yehuda Bauer, Trudy Gold, Howard Jacobson and Anita Lasker-Wallfisch.

Speakers will include Dr Sheila Gewolb, DL vice president of the board of deputies of British Jews and students from St Michaels Catholic Grammar School, as well as music from The Zemel Choir, The Barnet Band and the Alyth Youth Singers.

Jewish Museum
Camden Council will commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day with a talk from survivor Eva Schloss. She will speak about her story of survival and loss and focus on the beautiful poems her brother left hidden under the floorboards before the family was betrayed and arrested.

Harrow Arts Centre
Survivor Mala Tribich will be sharing her moving personal story alongside a range of performances, including a renowned choir, drama from local schools, and a showcase of work by a local artist.

University College London
One of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust, Jackie Young, will be speaking. At nine months old he was taken to a concentration camp in Terezin, without his family. He was there until 1945. He was then eventually adopted by a Jewish couple.
