A video store manager and director have been prosecuted after trading standards officers uncovered rogues DVD titles including Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Rajagopal Deleepan, manager of South Harrow Video and Party Service on Northolt Road, and Gayatri Ramesh, the company’s director, were fined £800, and they were each ordered to pay £815 in costs - £3,230 in total.
Mr Deleepan and Mrs Ramesh appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on December 6, where they pleaded guilty to six charges under the Video Recordings Act.
Cllr Graham Henson, who is responsible for crime and community safety in Harrow Cabinet, said: “Age classification helps consumers and protects children.
"Dodgy discs like these have no place on our streets. Shopkeepers trying to make a quick buck peddling illegal DVDs will quickly wind up in court. We find them and we fine them – the end.”
