A babies and toddlers picnic was held in a Pinner park to celebrate the diversity of the borough and commemorate the life of murdered MP Jo Cox.
People of all ages congregated in Pinner Memorial Park on Friday as part of the #MoreInCommon campaign – a weekend of events in recognition of the life of the mother of two, who was tragically killed in a gun and knife attack in June.
In her maiden speech to the House of Commons, Mrs Cox said “we have far more in common than that which divides us”, a sentiment echoed in the weekend’s activities, organised by anti-racism group Hope Not Hate.
Harrow NCT – the local branch of the UK’s largest charity for parents - gathered families from around the locality for the #MoreInCommon event, attracting some of the youngest participants nationwide.
More than 45 families attended, with tots enjoying soft play - supplied by Harrow NCT’s weekly Bumps and Babies group - and picnic food.
Organiser Flora Richards said: “The event was a great success, and a real celebration of our diverse community.
“I was delighted so many could be involved.”
