A couple who met during WWII will celebrate their platinum anniversary this year.
Harry and Bertha Nodder will mark 70 years together on Friday August 5.
The couple have lived in south Harrow for 64 years, and have two children, Colin and Linda, and one grandson, Robert.
Mr Nodder, 96, originally from Yorkshire, met Bertha, 92, in Belgium during World War Two.
The pair moved to England to live near Mr Nodder’s family in Harrow in 1945, and married in the Holy Trinity Church in Wealdstone in 1946.
Daughter Linda Nodder said: “They do everything together. You don’t have one without the other.
"They go shopping by themselves, and they can tell you all the bus routes in the areas. Two very independent people.
“They regularly attended modern sequence dancing in Harrow’s leisure centre, and they loved it, so they still pop in to say hello.
“We went away for their 60th anniversary, and they have already received two letters from the Queen, and we are expecting another one.”
A surprise party has been planned, where 30 friends and family members will help mark the couple’s milestone this Sunday.
