Northolt Fire Station will open its doors to the public later this month as part of a citywide celebration of the fire brigade.
As part of the London Fire Brigade’s 150th birthday celebrations, stations across the capital are allowing people in to see their inner workings and witness some lifesaving drills first hand.
The free event at the Pett’s Hill station, which runs from noon until 4pm on Sunday July 31, will give families an insight into the day-to-day running of the station.
Crew members of Green Watch will simulate a car crash and the accompanying rescue efforts, showcasing the tough and dangerous work firefighters carry out.
Children will also have the chance to try on a firefighter’s uniform and even sit in a fire engine.
To complement the festival mood, a face painting stall and an ice cream truck will also be in attendance.
