Harrow sports centres are celebrating a weekend of charity success.

Harrow Leisure Centre, Hatch End Swimming Pool and Bannister Outdoor Sports Centre held weekend fundraising activities to raise money for Sport Relief.

Hatch End and Harrow took part in the swimathon and Bannister took part in the Sport Relief Mile and held a super sport event.

Some 38 swimmers joined in the events at Hatch End and Harrow Leisure Centre, swimming 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km distances, individually or as part of a team.

More than 60 people took part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile hosted at Bannister Outdoor Sports Centre either walking, running or dancing their way round a one-mile, three-mile or six-mile course.

While 400 people attended the super sport event to try lots of different activities. A number of borough clubs offered free taster sessions including cycling, Zumba, yoga, skating, wall climbing, basketball, netball, tennis, athletics, football, free jumping, soft ball and table tennis.

Duncan Cogger, Everyone Active contract manager, said: "We were delighted that so many people took part in our Sport Relief activities this weekend.

"There was a great atmosphere with lots of family and friends cheering the swimmers on, and those getting active outside as well. I would like to congratulate all those to trained so hard to complete their challenge, and raise money for a great cause."

Final fundraising totals will be released by Sport Relief later in the year.
