More than 1,000 pupils at a Kenton high school are set to get their running shoes on for Sport Relief.

The pupils at Claremont High School, in Claremont Avenue, will be raising cash for the charity at its sponsored mile and other sporty challenges on Friday, March 18.

Around 1,000 students will be taking on their own challenge by completing the Sport Relief Mile around a one-mile circuit.

Each pupil will contribute £1 to take part and there will be an option to gain further sponsorship.

There will also be lots of other activities organised across the school including a table tennis tournament, football matches, staff v students basketball, staff v students netball, a Year 7 basketball marathon match, a boot camp training session and a Sport Relief bake off event.

The school hope to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.

Luke Peace, PE co-ordinator, said: "Students and teachers at Claremont High School love taking part in Sport Relief. It’s an excellent way to bring staff, students and the community together to get active, have fun and raise money for a great cause."

The money pupils raise this Sport Relief, will help give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.
