THE parents of a 20-year-old girl who died in a car crash have described her as a "true angel in disguise".

Parita Shah, of Harrow, was with her friend travelling on the Barnet Bypass last Friday when the Peugeot 206 she was driving collided with a tree.

The young student was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her friend, also 20, was taken to Barnet General Hospital, but was discharged the next day.

A statement issued by Parita's family said she was extremely popular and had many friends.

A friend said: "To describe her in a few words is hard, but if we try I would have to say loud, lively, full of life and extremely loved.

"Those who have been blessed enough to know her would surely agree that she was an angel on loan to us, who extended joy, light and happiness wherever she spread her wings. The warmth of her smile will forever be felt by those she blessed and let into her life."

Parita, a former student at Harrow College, was studying tourism management at Hertfordshire University.

She was due to graduate at the end of the year.

Her parents described her as a "devoted daughter and sister who will be immensely missed".

The family statement read: "Her memories will forever be in our heart, we as a family will remember her, every smile, laughter, achievement and even her tantrums which were so innocent and made not just her family but her friends laugh.

"The one thing that everyone would agree with was that she had a big heart, ready to help not just her family and friends but anyone in need of help.

"A true angel in disguise, you will always be missed and loved continue spreading your wings over us all. We love you, you were a beautiful angel, please always watch over us."

Hundreds of friends posted touching comments on Parita's page on a social networking site.

One poem read: "Perhaps one day we'll understand why God decided to take your hand and lead you into Heaven above surrounded by his tender love."

Parita's funeral will be held on Saturday at Golders Green Crematorium.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to come forward and are trying to establish why the car left the busy carriageway near the Borehamwood junction with Elstree Way last Friday evening.

Investigating officer PC Paul Warner said: "Did you see this vehicle travelling on the A1M prior to the collision?

"Please get in touch on 0845 33 00 222 if you can help."
