Walkers will take to the streets as a charity celebrates 50 years of serving the community.

This year Harrow Samaritans are celebrating 50 years since the branch opened to the public.

As part of the year of celebrations, the group of volunteers will walk the length of 50 streets in Harrow this weekend – one for every year - and are hoping to be joined by members of the community.

The walk will begin at 9.30am on Saturday, October 9, from the Harrow branch in Station Road, heading off towards Pinner and through Harrow on the Hill before returning.

Made up of about 80 men and women, the volunteers give up several hours of their time each week doing regular shifts at the centre.

Either on the telephone, email, text or face to face, the Samaritans aim to offer support to those who feel unable to cope with everyday problems or may even be feeling suicidal.
