THE woman found dead in her home has been named by police.
Emergency services were called to a house in Northumberland Road, North Harrow, at around 6pm on Friday, August 14 to reports of an unresponsive woman.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed and although formal identification has yet to take place, the deceased has been named as 31-year-old Elizabeth Nnyanzi.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Sunday, August 16 at Northwick Park Mortuary and police are now awaiting confirmation of the result.
Peter Kibisu, 23, of Northumberland Road was charged on Monday, August 17 with the murder.
He will appear in custody at Hendon Magistrates' Court today.
It is believed the victim and Kibisu were known to each other.
Police tape remains wrapped around trees, cutting off the area surrounding the house, and forensic teams remain at the scene today as neighbours watch on.
Councillor Georgia Weston, who serves the Headstone North ward, said: “We are all, naturally, devastated to hear of the untimely death of this intelligent and highly motivated woman.
“Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s neighbours, friends and particularly with her family who lives will be changed forever by this terrible crime.”
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate.
