An eyecare expert and his son will celebrate Father's Day by tackling a triathlon in aid of a children's charity.

Raj Kukadia, of Pinner, will take on an epic fundraising challenge when he competes in the the Henley-on-Thames triathlon in aid of Indian charity Suhani’s Orphanage.

Mr Kukadia, a director of Specsavers in Holborn and The Brunswick Centre in central London, will be accompanied by his nine-year-old son Krishan at the race on Father’s Day.

He said: “After recently competing in the Three Peaks Challenge, it feels good to get involved again with another fundraiser for such a worthy charity.

“The level of support and generosity I’ve received from my family, colleagues at Specsavers and the community has been overwhelming.

“What makes it even more special is the fact that my son Krishan is also taking part.”

The optician will be taking on a 400m swim, 25km cycle and 5km run while Krishan will be attempting a 50m swim, 2km cycle and 1km run.

The father and son duo have already raised more than £1,000 for their chosen charity.

Mr Kukadia added: “Suhani’s Orphanage, based in India, supports children who have been abandoned by their families, so it really puts things in perspective for me as a parent.

“I feel privileged to share this moment with Krishan. It will be a Father’s Day to remember.”

The Goan charity provides homes, shelters, education, feeding programmes and medical care to children working and living on the streets or slums in India.
