A Labour peer criticised ‘out of touch’ Conservatives at a political debate hosted by a school.
Lord Adonis visited Harrow to support Harrow East candidate Uma Kumaran when she returned to her old school St Dominics School for a hustings.
The former schools and transport minister spoke about Labour’s future plans in the borough and encouraged voters to vote for Ms Kumaran in Harrow East, where she is trying to unseat Conservative Bob Blackman.
Lord Adonis said: “The Tories are clearly out of touch and only Labour can be trusted as the party of hard-working Harrow residents and families.
“I strongly support Uma’s campaign for step-free access at stations like Stanmore in Harrow; they are vital lifelines for residents in Harrow but are inaccessible for anyone with limited mobility.”
Ms Kumaran added: “It was fantastic to have Lord Adonis’s support at the hustings today.
“I returned to my old school to discuss my plans for Harrow East and was so pleased to see my politics teacher in the audience.
“I told the audience what I’ve been telling all residents in Harrow, I will save and strengthen our NHS and tackle the cost of living crisis threatening our borough.”
