A husband rushed to his 82-year-old wife’s side after she fell in their home, an inquest heard.

Nigerian-born Florence Akinboro, of High Road, Harrow Weald, died in Northwick Park Hospital on January 4 after suffering a fall the previous day.

It is believed that the former nursing matron, who had a history of diabetes, heart failure and hypertension, had fallen in her living room after feeling dizzy and fainting, an inquest at North London Coroner’s Court heard today.

Giving evidence at the inquest, her husband William Akinboro, a retired solicitor, said he was in the bedroom of their second floor flat at the time of the fall.

He said: “I rushed in and lifted her up. By the time I looked at her face, her eyes had changed and I dialled 999.

“She was telling the ambulance men that she couldn’t remember what happened.”

Mrs Akinboro was rushed to Northwick Park hospital where she underwent a CT scan. She died the following day on January 4.

Senior coroner Andrew Walker said it was important to factor in her heart condition, hypertension and the fact she was taking anti-blood clotting drug warfarin into his conclusion.

He said: “When you add all these factors together, quite a small impact can have a big impact on someone of that age.”

Mr Walker concluded that Mrs Akinboro dies as a result of natural causes, citing a serious blood clot on her brain due to a fall caused by a medical condition as the cause of death.
